DSG tuning options and benefits.
INCREASE THE SWITCHING SPEED:
The shift response time can be increased by up to 20%, allowing smoother gear changes, which means less clutch slip during acceleration at full load. This is necessary to protect your gearbox clutches from premature failure.
Reduced shift times also give better response times, not only in standard D (drive) mode but also in Sport up to 40%.
MODIFICATION OF TORQUE LIMITERS:
The torque of the car is changed during the programming of the engine control unit, but if the car is equipped with a DSG gearbox, modifications to this DSG control unit are also very often necessary. By programming the DSG control unit we can get the full potential from the interaction between the engine and the gearbox.
CHANGING GEAR SPEED:
The DSG control unit has full control of the engine speed limiters for each gear, so it is very important to adjust these speeds according to the engine control unit configuration. Raising these shift points will ensure that the maximum power of the engine is fully utilised and delivered to the wheels.
Another reason to change the shift speeds is that the factory-set shift points are too low, even in calm everyday city traffic. Usually the 6th gear of the DSG 7-speed gearbox is already shifted at 60 km/h, which causes unnecessary strain on the engine and sometimes also vibrations. By adjusting the gears to the optimum, we will have a more comfortable car for everyday driving and the life of the flywheel will be extended.
LAUNCH CONTROL:
Start control can be activated in most vehicles, but is particularly effective in DSG vehicles.
Activating launch control can improve 0-100 Km/h acceleration times and maximise grip.
